Notes of Paradise Lost (Lines 84-100)
I am doubtful whether you are he, who once living in the state of
lights, how fallen, how changed from that state, the state of lights. In the
state of lights (heaven) you were matchless in brightness in heaven to
multitude of angels or as compared to the other angels. I doubt you are he,
whom close aid, united thoughts and counsels, equal hope of success and equal
risks of failure joined me once and joined me in equal defeat. Have you seen
from what height has you fallen into bottomless hell. He (God) has proved
himself stronger and superior to us with his thunder. Until or unless we had
not defeated we could have not known the power of His thunder. Nor did we know
the powerful victor can inflict on us in his anger. Should I repent on my deed?
Though my outward luster, brightness have changed, but inwardly I am still
adamant. That change from brightness to darkness has made my mind fixed and
urged me to challenge the authority of God.
